Description

When data from a chemical's mass spectrum is displayed in a bar graph format, certain data is represented. Each peak is displayed as a bar proportionate to its relative intensity, indicated by the left vertical axis. The maximum percent total ionization is displayed on the right vertical axis, together with the m/z ratio for the first peak.

total ion current =

= SUM(relative intensities for all peaks detected)

percent total ionization =

= (relative intensity for peak) / (total ion current)

maximum percent total ionization =

= (maximum relative intensity) / (total ion current)

subscript for percent Sigma =

= (m/z ratio for first detected peak)
