One way of dosing a child is to give the proportion of the adult based on child's height relative to the average adult height.
pediatric dose =
= ((child's height in centimeters) / 174) * (adult dose)
where:
• 174 is adult height in centimeters (68.5 inches)
Limitations:
• This method can work for some drugs, but does not work for all.
