Description

A prognostic score based on 7 independent risk factors can be used to assess patients with advanced Hodgkin's disease. This can help decide the therapeutic regimen to use in treatment.

Parameters:

(1) serum albumin

(2) hemoglobin

(3) patient's gender

(4) patient's age

(5) stage of Hodgkin's disease

(6) white blood cell (WBC) count

(7)lymphocyte count: absolute or percent of differential

prognostic score =

= SUM(points for 7 parameters)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 7

• low risk: <= 2

• moderate-to-high risk: >= 3

• patients at very high risk: not identified by model
