Description

The Penn Arthroplasty Risk Score (PARS) can help to identify a patient undergoing total joint arthroplasty (knee, hip, other) who may need intensive care following surgery. The authors are from the University of Pennsylvania.


Patient selection: total joint arthroplasty (TJA)

 

Parameters:

(1) chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

(2) congestive heart failure (CHF)

(3) coronary artery disease (CAD)

(4) estimated blood loss (EBL) in mL

(5) need for intraoperative vasopressors
