Description

The Imposter Syndrome is a state of self-doubt about one's professional abilities. It is relatively common although people often do not talk about it.


Features:

(1) The person is at a major transition point in his or her chosen profession, typically with pressure to achieve.

(2) The person feels intense self-doubt about her or his abilities to perform, even if functioning quite well.

(3) The person sees him/herself as an imposter hiding behind a facade who really is not capable of living up to expectations or who does not belong.

(4) There may be an element of anxiety that the person will be found out to be a fraud
