Description

Tosetto et al reported the DASH score for patients with unprovoked venous thromboembolism. This can help to identify a patient who may not require long-term anticoagulation therapy. The authors are from multiple institutions in Europe and North America.

DASH is an acronym for D-dimer, Age, Sex and Hormonal therapy.

Patient selection: history of unprovoked venous thromboembolism

Outcome: recurrent venous thromboembolism

Parameters:

(1) plasma D-dimer concentration

(2) age of the patient in years

(3) sex

(4) hormonal therapy at time of initial thromosis
