Description:

The fruit of the Cassava plant (Manihot esculenta) is a major foodstuff in tropical Africa. The Cassava plant contains linamarin, a cyanogenic glucoside. If a person eats improperly prepared products, cassavism (locally termed konzo or mantakassa) may develop, which features toxic ataxic neuropathy.
