Description

With zero order kinetics the same amount of drug is eliminated over time.  Graphically the direct plot of drug concentration vs time is a straight line.

Parameters:

(1) trial dose of drug in mg

(2) time in hours to go from peak to no drug in the system

(3) regular dose in mg

elimination rate in mg per hour =

= (mg trial dose) / (hours to eliminate completely)

time to eliminate regular dose =

= (regular dose) / (elimination rate) =

= (regular dose) / (test dose) * (hours to eliminate test dose)

half life for the drug in hours =

= (time to eliminate regular dose) / 2

percent of drug present at a given time =

= ((regular dose) - ((hours) * (elimination rate))) / (regular dose) * 100%
