Description

The Z-score can be used to put a patient result in perspective with reference values from a control population. It basically gives the number of standard deviations that a given value is from the reference population mean.

Z-score =

= ((patient value) - (mean for reference population)) / (standard deviation for reference population)

This shares features with the Standard Deviation Interval (SDI).
