The wrist index compares the width to the depth of the wrist at the distal
Parameters:
(1) width of the wrist in mm at the distal wrist crease
(2) depth of the wrist in mm at the distal wrist crease
wrist index =
= (depth of the wrist) / (width of the wrist)
In a Turkish population the ratio was 0.69 +/- 0.06.
Limitations:
• The measurements must be taken at the same location each time using a reliable caliper. Multiple measurements are usually taken then averaged.
