Description

Annane et al used certain clinical criteria to identify a patient with severe mandibular osteonecrosis after radiation therapy for a head and neck cancer. The authors are from Hopital Raymond Poincare in Garches and Hopital Saint Louis in Paris, France.


 

Criteria for severe mandibular osteoradionecrosis - one or more of the following:

(1) area of exposed mandibular bone >= 20 mm

(2) cutaneous fistula

(3) fracture of the mandible

(4) a priori need for surgery
