Description

Following poisoning with ciguatera fish, the response to treatment and recovery may be monitored using an abbreviated symptom scale, consisting of a subset of the symptom severity scale proposed by Lange. They emphasize paresthesias and dysesthesias, which may be chronic and disabling. The monitoring scale can be used to compare effectiveness of different treatments.


 

Symptoms:

(1) tingling and/or numbness in legs

(2) tingling and/or numbness in arms

(3) tingling and/or numbness in mouth

(4) hot and cold reversal

(5) weakness in the legs

(6) weakness in the arms

(7) joint pain

(8) muscle pain

(9) headache

(10) tooth pain

(11) perspirations and sweating

(12) itching

(13) incoordination

(14) burning on urination

(15) worsening of condition with alcohol
