Description

Jadad et al developed a simple score for evaluating the quality of a report for a randomized clinical trial. It is intended to measure the likelihood of bias in the study. The authors are from the Oxford University.

The assessment is intended to take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

Evaluation:

(1) randomization

(2) double blind

(3) description of withdrawals and dropouts

total score =

= SUM(points for all items including additional points and deductions)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0 (I assume that the deductions in questions for 1 and 2 will reduce the point initially assigned down to 0).

• maximum score: 5

• The higher the score, the lower the likelihood of bias in the study.
