Sciascia et al developed the Global Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome Score (GAPSS). The authors are from the King’s College London, Universita di Torino, and St. Thomas’ Hospital London.
Patient selection: SLE, other autoimmune disease
Parameters:
(1) hyperlipidemia
(2) arterial hypertension
(3) anticardiolipin antibodies IgG/IgM
(4) anti-beta2 glycoprotein I (GPI) antibodies IgG/IgM
(5) antibodies to solid-phase prothrombin and to phosphatidylserine-prothrombin complex (anti-PS/PT) IgG/IgM

= SUM(points for all 6 parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 20
• A higher score was associated with thrombosis with or without pregnancy loss. Higher scores were also associated with recurrences.
• A lower score was associated with pregnancy loss alone.
Performance:
• A cutoff of >=10 was associated with an AUC of 0.74.
