Upon standing from a reclining position, there occurs a reflex tachycardia. This typically is maximal around the 15th beat after standing, followed by a reduction in heart rate. The 30:15 ratio is a measure of this reflex.

= (R-R interval on the 30th beat after standing) / (R-R interval on the 15th beat)
