Description

Salles et al used the T-wave axis in the electrocardiogram to stratify patients with Chagas' cardiomyopathy based on prognosis. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Clementino Fraga Filho University Hospital and Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Patient selection: Chagas' cardiomyopathy

Outcomes: sudden death, Chagas'-related mortality, all-cause mortality

Parameters:

(1) frontal plane T-wave axis on admission

(2) electrocardiogram at baseline
