Description

A woman who wears a wet, tight bikini all day may develop a pain in the ass.


 

Features:

(1) presence of one or more painful nodules in the lower buttocks

(2) history of wearing a swimsuit in the past few days (usually 3 to 5)

(3) difficulty sitting

 

Risk factors:

(1) wearing a tight swimsuit

(2) presence of moisture

(3) recurrent abrasion or prolonged sitting

(4) exposure over many hours

 

Preventive measures:

(1) avoid all of the risk factors

(2) remove the swimsuit and apply an absorbent powder

 

Therapeutic measures may include:

(1) Avoiding swimwear and tight clothing for 10-14 days.

(2) Therapy with systemic antibiotics.

(3) Application of topical antibiotics used for acne.
