Description

Fugl-Meyer et al developed a protocol for physical and functional assessment of a hemiplegic patient following a stroke. The examination is divided into various sections, including examination of passive joint motion. The authors are from the University of Goteborg in Sweden.

Passive joint motion evaluation:

(1) shoulder flexion

(2) shoulder abduction to 90°

(3) shoulder outward rotation

(4) shoulder inward rotation

(5) elbow flexion

(6) elbow extension

(7) forearm pronation

(8) forearm supination

(9) wrist flexion

(10) wrist extension

(11) finger flexion

(12) finger extension

(13) hip flexion

(14) hip abduction

(15) hip outward rotation

(16) hip inward rotation

(17) knee flexion

(18) knee extension

(19) ankle dorsiflexion

(20) ankle plantar flexion

(21) pronation

(22) supination

Performance is compared between the affected and unaffected side.
