Self-Inflicted Burn Typology (SIB-T) of Titscher et al

Description

Titscher et al reported the Self-Inflicted Burn Typology (SIB-T) to describe patients with self-inflicted burns. This can help to determine an appropriate response to avoid recurrent episodes. The authors are from the Vienna Burn Center and the Medical University of Vienna.

Patient selection: self-inflicted burn

Parameters:

(1) psychiatric history

(2) self-burn as suicide attempt

The reactive group are often male, often under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and are overwhelmed by a negative life event.
