Description

A patient receiving interferon beta-1b for multiple sclerosis or other reason can administer the drug by subcutaneous self-injection. The sites recommended for the injections follows a rotational pattern.

The purpose of site rotation is to minimize the chance for injection site reaction.

Site selection: an area with subcutaneous fat and that is away from joints, nerves, blood vessels and bones.

A dose is given every other day, so a complete cycle of injections is 48 days.

Pattern of 24 sites:

(1) 8 body area locations

(2) 3 zones (upper, middle, lower) in each region
