Gallagher et al used the STOPP (Screening Tool of Older Person's Prescriptions) to help guide therapy in older adults. It is important to identify drugs that may increase the risk for falls. The authors are from Cork University in Ireland.

first-generation antihistamine

vasodilator drugs
postural hypotension and risk for syncope
long-term opiate therapy
drowsiness, postural hypotension, vertigo
The risk is increased if the patient has a history of falls and/or other risk factors for falls.
