Description

Kofoed developed a score for evaluating ankle function before and after arthroplasty in patients with rheumatoid arthritis or other form of arthritis. This can help determine the outcome for the procedure. The author is from Frederiksberg Hospital in Copenhagen.

Parameters:

(1) pain

(2) tip-toe walking

(3) heel walking

(4) one-leg standing

(5) use of walking support

(6) use of stabilising foot wear

(7) cadence during staircase walking

(8) flexion in degrees

(9) extension in degrees

(10) supination in degrees

(11) pronation in degrees

(12) valgus during loading in degrees

(13) varus during loading in degrees

• minimum score: 4

• maximum score: 100

• The higher the score the better the ankle function.
