Risk Factors for Fall Injury in Bathtub or Shower

Is there a surface that is slippery due to water, soap, and/or something on the floor?

Is it necessary to step over something to get into or out of the bathing enclosure?

Is there something secure that the person can hold on to?

Is there something present that could be tripped over?

• have to stand on one foot?

• have to reach for something?

• have to stand up or sit down?

• have a concurrent illness (seizure disorder, stroke, hypotension, joint disease, vertigo, acute illness)?

• intoxicated?

• have impaired vision?

• surprised or caught unawares?
