(4) gullibility
(5) pride
(6) dishonest or corrupt
(7) desperate
(8) being caught off guard
Population groups at risk:
(1) people who cannot go to the police because a crime was committed
(2) relatives or friends of the perpetuator
(3) rich or poor, educated or ignorant
Ways to avoid a scam:
(1) never assume or trust anything without checking thoroughly (diligence)
(2) not getting involved in anything illegal or questionable
(3) questioning anything that looks too good to be true or that does not feel right
(4) be honest (an honest person can be duped but is less susceptible)
(5) be willing to challenge someone or walk away from a deal when in doubt
(6) never giving blind trust to anyone who is charismatic
(7) avoid being impulsive (always be willing to wait before making a decision)
