Cattle can cause serious injury and death under certain conditions.
Victim risk factors:
(1) male farmer
(2) age >= 60 years
(3) intoxicated
(4) sensory impairment (visual and/or auditory)
(5) impaired mobility due to arthritis or other cause
Cattle risk factors:
(1) bull
(2) female with calf
(3) other with a history of aggressive behaviors
Situational risk factors:
(1) being around cattle without a safety barrier or means of quick escape
(2) stampede
(3) working alone without backup
