Description

Buying a prescription drug online can be convenient but not all internet websites are legitimate. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has listed criteria for identifying a legitimate online pharmacy. Purchasing drugs from someplace else can cause serious problems.

Features of a legitimate online pharmacy:

(1) is located in the United States (or country in which you live)

(2) is licensed by the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy (or comparable agency)

(3) requires a legitimate prescription

(4) has a licensed pharmacist available to answer any questions

(5) has a mechanism for handling any problems that might arise

(6) has privacy and security policies that are enforced

(7) maintains the privacy of confidential personal information

Other features:

(1) listed with the VIPPS (Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Site) or similar authorizing program

(2) do not sell cure-alls or nostrums

(3) does not make claims that cannot be substantiated
