Description

This differs from the ? OD450 technique, where the tangent to the curve is used as baseline. The absorbance at 575 nm is subtracted from the absorbance at 455 nm, which yields a "corrected bilirubin value" that takes into account the turbidity of the fluid.

Lower Boundary Line

y intercept at 20 weeks: 0.30

y intercept at 42 weeks: 0.07

slope of line: -0.0104

LOG10(100 * ((? OD455) - (? OD575))) =

= ((-0.0104) * (weeks gestation)) + 0.509

Upper Boundary Line for < 32 Weeks

for less than 32 weeks, y = 0.5

Upper Boundary Line for 32 - 42 Weeks

y intercept at 42 weeks: 0.23

y intercept at 20 weeks (if the line were extrapolated back): 1.0

slope = -0.035

LOG10(100 * ((? OD455) - (?OD575))) =

= ((-0.035) * (weeks gestation)) + 1.7

where:

• Logarithms are base 10.

• The weeks gestation are from 20-42 weeks.
