Description

Hasselbalch and Jensen developed a simple prognostic score for patients with idiopathic myelofibrosis. This was developed at the Bispebjerg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Parameters: based on data collected at the time of initial diagnosis:

(1) hemoglobin concentration

(2) platelet count

(3) osteomyelosclerosis on skeletal X-rays

(4) spleen size on physical examination

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score

• The higher the score, the worse the prognosis
