Description

De Virgilio et al identified prognostic factors for a patient who is undergoing an endovascular repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The authors are from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California.


 

Parameters identified by multivariate analysis:

(1) number of risk factors for cardiac (coronary artery) disease

(2) 2 or more days in the ICU after surgery ("longer" stay)

(3) STEMI (ST elevated MI) in the perioperative period (defined on page 906)

 

Risk factors for cardiac disease:

(1) age > 70 years

(2) history of angina

(3) history of MI or Q wave on ECG

(4) diabetes mellitus

(5) congestive heart failure
