Description

Araujo et al identified risk factors for in-hospital mortality for a patient discharged from the intensive care unit (ICU). These can help to identify patients who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Sao Francisco Xavier Hospital in Lisbon.

where:

• The cutoff for the Charlson comorbidity score can be varied to affect performance. In the implementation >= 6 will be used.

= SUM(points for all 3 parameters)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 3

• The score can help to identify a patient at risk for in-hospital mortality following discharge from the ICU.
