Description

Rabbani et al identified risk factors associated with recovery of erectile function after a radical prostatectomy. The potential impact of surgery on erectile function is an important aspect of preoperative informed consent. While patients may have some loss of potency immediately after surgery, many will show improvement over time. The authors are from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Repatriation General Hospital (Australia) and Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Parameters:

(1) age of the patient

(2) level of erectile function prior to surgery

(3) extent of neurovascular bundle preservation
