Description

Rolando and Refojo used a simple linear equation to predict the exposed ocular surface when the eyelids are open based on the palpebral aperture (maximal vertical distance between the upper and lower eyelid). The authors are from Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Range in palpebral aperture width: 4 to 14 mm

Range in exposed ocular surface: 0.5 mm to 3.4 square cm

exposed eye surface in square centimeters =

= (0.28 * (aperture in mm)) - 0.44

r value 0.991
