Description

Wong et al developed a simple scoring system to predict whether external cephalic version would be successful in a woman with breech presentation at term. The score can be calculated in clinical settings without an ultrasound machine. The authors are from the Tsan Yuk Hospital in Hong Kong, China.

Parameters:

(1) head palpable or not

(2) breech engagement

(3) symphysis-fundal height

(4) uterine relaxation

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 4

• The higher the score, the more likely external cephalic version will be successful.
