The power required to climb can be calculated if certain parameters are known.
Parameters:
(1) body weight in kilograms
(2) height climbed in meters
(3) time to climb in seconds
force in Newtons =
= (body weight in kilograms) * 9.8
work in Joules =
= (force in Newtons) * (height)
power output in Watts =
= (work in Joules) / (time in seconds)
where:
• 9.8 is gravity in meters per seconds-squared.
