The MULGO group developed a pocket chart to predict pain in a patient 1 year after cholecystectomy. This can help the patient understand the chances for one of the possible outcomes after the surgery. The authors are from multiple hospitals in Denmark.
Parameters:
(1) symptoms coinciding with pain
(2) pain agonizing
(3) pain rasping
(4) introverted personality
(5) dyspepsia score
Dyspepsia score is based on the presence (1 point) or absence (0 points) of:
(1) dysphagia
(2) globus
(3) acid regurgitation
(4) heartburn
(5) nausea
(6) vomiting
(7) flatulence
(8) eructation
(9) borborygmus
(10) diarrhea
(11) constipation
(12) intermittent constipation and diarrhea
(13) abdominal distention
(14) rapid satiety
(15) incomplete defecation
(16) anorexia

where:
• The maximum dyspepsia score is 16 but for practical purposes it should be 14 (diarrhea, constipation and intermittent constipation-diarrhea would not coexist) but the point assignment only goes to 12.
• The point assignment for dyspepsia is ((dyspepsia score) * 3).
