Description

The Pemphigus Disease Activity Index (PDAI) has several subscores describing disease activity and damage. One subscore is for skin damage. The PDAI was developed by the International Pemphigus Definitions Committee.


 

Regions:

(1) eyes

(2) nose

(3) rest of face

(4) neck

(5) chest

(6) abdomen

(7) back and buttocks

(8) arms

(9) hands

(10) legs

(11) feet

(12) genitals

(13) scalp

 

Damage is indicated by postinflammatory hyperpigmentation or erythema from resolving lesions.

= SUM(points for first 12 regions)

 

score for all skin regions including scalp =

= SUM(points for all 13 regions)

 

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum skin damage subscore: 12

• maximum total damage score: 13

• The higher the score the greater the skin damage.
