The Patient’s Perception of Intensity of Urgency Scale (PPIUS) can be used to evaluate a patient with overactive bladder. It can be recorded in a personal diary each time that the patient urinates.
Urination is the passing of urine into a toilet.
Incontinence is involuntary release of urine.
Parameters:
(1) need to urinate (empty bladder) = urgency
(2) ability to postpone urination
(3) incontinence after onset of need to urinate (urge incontinence)
