Description

Williams et al evaluated patient satisfaction associated with corneal transplant surgery. The items can be modified to apply to other forms of surgery. The authors are from the University of South Australia.

Components:

(A) preoperative counseling: 4 questions

(B) outcome relative to expectations and satisfaction: 5 questions

where:

• In Table 5 for satisfaction, there was a sixth statement ("Overall, are you very happy with your surgery?"), which seems to be a repetition of the first statement. I did not include this in the implementation.

• The original response options were Yes, No and uncertain. In the implementation I have used a 5 level response: strongly agree, agree, uncertain, disagree and strongly disagree.

• The fifth item under outcome is in reverse order (agreeing indicates dissatisfaction).
