Description

The “true” sinusoidal heart rate (SHR) pattern on the fetal cardiotocogram can be seen with a number of conditions.


 

Serious conditions associated with true SHR:

(1) severe fetal anemia (erythroblastosis fetalis, other)

(2) fetal asphyxia/hypoxia with metabolic acidosis

(3) fetal cardiac anomalies

(4) fetal infection

(5) cord compression

(6) pre-eclampsia or abruption
