Anyone who has lived through war may develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Fireworks may trigger a negative reaction for this person.
A susceptible person has all of the following:
(1) history of exposure to warfare
(2) consequent development of PTSD
(3) flashback triggered by any loud explosion and/or flash
Factors making the experience to fireworks more difficult:
(1) more severe wartime exposure
(2) unexpected exposure
(3) inability to avoid
(4) lack of support from others
