The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rates movies according to suitability of content for various audiences.


 

Content that may be objectionable to some users include:

(1) nudity

(2) sexual content

(3) drug use

(4) violence

(5) language

(6) anything else disturbing

some content not suitable for young children such as brief nudity

parents strongly cautioned

PG-13

some content not suitable for children under 13 years of age

restricted

R

anyone under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian to be admitted

no one 17 or younger admitted

NC-17

adult only (>= 18 years of age)

 

where:

• PG-13 and R use less than the cut-off age while NC-17 is less than or equal.
