Description

Hartmann et al developed a model for predicting hypotension following spinal anesthesia induction. This can help identify patients who should undergo closer monitoring and early intervention. The authors are from Justus-Liebig University in Giessen, Germany.

Parameters identified on logistic regression analysis:

(1) chronic alcohol consumption

(2) history of hypertension

(3) body mass index (BMI)

(4) spinal level of sensory block

(5) urgent surgery
