Identifying a Malingering Patient with Low Back Pain

Have you examined a patient complaining of low back pain?

Did the patient overreact during the physical exam?

Was the degree of disability much greater than the level expected based on objective findings?

Did the patient have a weakness during the exam which is not seen in other activities?

Does the patient have pain that does not follow physiologic patterns?

Did the patient show cogwheel weakness?

Did the patient claim to have a false symptom suggested by the clinician to test the patient?
