Description

In truncate ascertainment all of the families in a population with at least one affected offspring are identified. Li and Mantel proposed a method to correct for the bias of this manner of ascertainment. The following assumes that the identified families have 2 offspring, at least one of which is affected by the genetic condition of interest.

Li-Mantel corrected segregation ratio =

= ((total number affected) - (number of sibships with only one affected sib)) / (total number of siblings) - (number of sibships with only one affected sib))
