Description

A solar flare can be classified based on its intensity near Earth. Solar flares can disrupt radio communication, radar and other electromagnetic functions.

Measurement: X-rays in the 100-800 picometer range

Target: peak flux in watts per square meter

Designation:

(1) leading letter indicating power of 10

(2) following number

Power of 10
