Criteria to detoxify a patient as an inpatient - one or more of the following:

(1) presence of moderate or severe withdrawal

(2) history of seizures

(3) history of delirium tremens

(4) unable or unwilling to comply with daily follow-up

(5) unable or unwilling to take oral medications

(6) severe comorbid psychiatric disorder

(7) comorbid medical condition requiring hospitalization

(8) failed outpatient detoxification
