(1) preference for the barrier method of contraception
(2) need for prevention of sexually transmitted disease
Reasons to use a female condom:
(1) The man refuses to wear a male latex condom.
(2) The man or woman is allergic to latex.
(3) The woman is with multiple sexual partners.
The annual contraceptive failure rate for the female condom ranges from 5-21%.
