Overviw:

Powell-Tuck et al developed a scoring index for patients with ulcerative colitis. This can be used to monitor a patient over time and to evaluate the response to therapy. The authors are from St. Mark's Hospital.

(4) stool consistency

(5) rectal bleeding

(6) anorexia

(7) nausea and vomiting

(8) abdominal tenderness

(9) extraintestinal complications affecting eye, skin, joints, mouth

(11) sigmoidoscopic appearance

• minimum score: 0

• The higher the score the more active the ulcerative colitis.
