Basic assessments:

(1) physical condition and impairments

(2) ambulation

(3) activities of daily living

(4) prefracture living situation

(5) disabilities

total functional rating score =

= (points for physical condition) + (points for ambulation) + (points for activities of daily living) + (points for prefracture living condition) + (points for disabilities)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: -40 points or more

• maximum score: 100 points

• The higher the score, the more likely the patient will be able to recover without permanent disability.

• Patients with a low score tend to have a permanent disability and a higher risk of remaining institutionalized afterwards.
