Situational items (12) : 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 19, 21, 23

Emotional items (13) : 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25

= SUM(points for situational items)

emotional subscore =

= SUM(points for emotional items)

total score =

= (situational subscore) + (emotional subscore)

Interpretation:

• minimum total score: 0

• maximum total score: 100

• The higher the score, the greater the impairment.

• Some patients with significant hearing loss may report a relatively low impairment, while other patients with a lesser hearing loss may report significant impairment.

Performance:

• The Cronbach alpha was 0.95 for the entire inventory, showing good internal consistency.
